The location of the Estrela do mar is very remote.

On the Linga peninsula right across the bay of Inhambane, Estrela do mar is embedded in a natural environment surrounded by palm trees full of coconuts. All houses are just about 50 meters away from the beach and face towards sunrise.

Estrela do mar is only accessible via 4×4 drive or by boat.

Development potential

New houses for private investors

Due to the political situation in South Africa, many whites have emigrated to Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand. But not everyone wants to leave Africa as a continent and are looking for land in the surrounding countries.

About 10 – 15 new houses for private investors can still be built on the two properties acquired. Depending on the size of the plot of land, the buyer must pay an amount for the building right and the documents / licenses.
These amounts are used to repay the loan for the acquisition of Estrela do mar.

The buyer builds his house according to his wishes according to the size of the property and then pays a monthly fee for the running costs.

The buyer also has the option of placing the house in the rental pool and having it marketed by Pura Vida Lodge. Here too, additional income is generated which can serve the loan.

I spent a long time thinking about and researching how to make the lodge even more attractive and how to develop your own USP (Unique selling proposition). I came across this resort in Mexico, which offers beach houses with a pool on the roof.

However, these houses in Mexico are built with bricks and plaster and we have looked into whether this could not also be implemented in a traditional timber construction. The following 3D model was created.

However, these chalets should no longer be implemented as self-catering units and this is also a reason why we will need a restaurant again in the future.

The chalets with pool will be unique in Mozambique if not in Africa and I think we can inspire some travel agencies to buy contingents for these houses through PR.

A guest house is also planned to complement our self-catering chalets and the chalets with the pool on the roof.

The guests of the guesthouse are dependent on a restaurant.

The lodge suffers a lot from the situation that we lost the restaurant with pool to the sea in April 2018.

It is imperative that we can once again offer our guests a restaurant with a pool. The surrounding lodges, the business people from the cities, the NGOs, the police and the government authorities are also looking for such an offer.

The surrounding lodges for their guests, the business people for a Sunday outing with their families, and the rest for conventions, seminars or just lunch.
